A Solar Energy Assessment for the Jerry Forbes Centre

Re(source) Energy, Tribe Solar, and International Renewable Energy Systems Inc conducted a solar energy assessment for the Jerry Forbes Centre Foundation‘s Centre for Community Spirit.

The Centre hosts 25 charities and nonprofits:
630 CHED Santas Anonymous
ABC Head Start Society
Alberta Dreams
Arts on the Ave
Celiac Edmonton
Canadian Hard of Hearing Association
Caregivers Alberta
Children’s Heart Society
Christmas Bureau of Edmonton
Community Options, Inc.
Eating Disorder Support Network of Alberta
Edmonton Area Narcotics Anonymous
Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL)
Edmonton Folk Music Festival
Edmonton Regional Search and Rescue
ElderCare Edmonton
The Good Neighbour
Kiwanis Club of Edmonton
Next Chapter for Divorcing Families Society
Paralympic Sports Association
Search and Rescue Alberta
Special Olympics Alberta
The Navy League of Canada – Youth Programs /Alberta Division
WECAN Food Basket Society

Serving over 500,000 Albertans, these organizations contribute immensely without the burden of rent, paying only for their share of operating costs — a setup that saves them up to 50% in operational expenses.

Our findings suggest that a rooftop solar system could cover 100% of the Centre’s annual electricity needs. This would further decrease operating costs and eliminate up to 148 metric tons of CO2 electricity grid emissions annually.

We’re excited about the potential savings and environmental benefits this project could bring to the Jerry Forbes Centre, its nonprofits, and the Albertans they serve.
